Merchant data

If you are using Chec or Commerce.js to make sales, you are a Merchant.

Chec or Commerce.js does not sell Merchant data to 3rd parties.

What information do we collect from merchants and why?

  • We collect your name, company name, address, company email address, personal email address, and payment details (for example, your credit card information). We also collect data about how and when you access your account and the Chec platform, including information about the device and browser you use, your network connection and your IP address.

When do we collect this information?

  • We collect personal information when you sign up for our Services when you access our Services or otherwise provide us with the information.

Merchants’ Customer Data / Customer Data

If you purchase or download a good or service from a Chec Merchant, you are a Customer.

Chec or Commerce.js does not sell Customer data to 3rd parties.

What information do we collect from our merchants’ customers and why?

  • We store our merchants’ customers’ name, email, shipping and billing address, payment details, company name, phone number, IP address, information about orders you initiate, information about the Chec powered merchant stores/integrations that you visit and interact with, and information about the device and browser you use.

  • We use this information to provide our merchants with the Services, including supporting and processing orders, risk and fraud screening, authentication, and payments.

  • We may also use this information to help developers working with our platform to provide a better experience for the end-user, for example, using your IP address to determine your location and partially pre-fill certain personal fields such as shipping addresses.

When do we collect this information?

  • We collect this information when you use or access a store that uses our Services, such as when you visit a merchant’s site, place an order or sign up for an account on a merchant’s site.

  • We also collect this information via our API if a merchant is using our Commerce.js integration.

If I use Chec to host my store, does my business comply with GDPR?

Not automatically. While Chec’s operations will comply with the GDPR, and Chec will provide tools to help its merchants comply, it is the responsibility of each merchant to ensure that its business is compliant with the laws of the jurisdiction in which it operates.

Using Chec’s platform alone does not guarantee that a company complies with the GDPR.
